Student Clinic

The Daoist Traditions Student Acupuncture Clinic is located at 222 South Broad Avenue in Asheville, North Carolina, a short drive from the campus. The building contains eight treatment rooms, an herbal dispensary, and a kitchen/lounge area for students and faculty.

During the first two years of the program, students complete 150 hours of Clinical Observation hours. Hours are completed by observing senior interns and assisting in the herbal dispensary at the Student Clinic and through observation with licensed practitioners in their private practice. Students begin with getting comfortable in the clinical setting and advance to practicing tongue and pulse diagnosis.

During the last two years of the program, students complete 750 hours of Clinical Internship in the Student Clinic. Students practice their skills of palpation, diagnosis, acupuncture, and herbal medicine while treating patients in a supervised setting. During the first two semesters of Clinical Internship, students are working in pairs and progress to working individually in the last year of study.

The clinic offers low cost acupuncture to the community. Daoist Traditions students may use the clinic for their health care needs.

STUDENT CLINIC PATIENTS

Thank you for participating in the Daoist Traditions Student Acupuncture Clinic. We greatly appreciate your support and involvement in this important phase of our students’ training. We look forward to providing you with an excellent health care experience.

It is imperative for you to make every effort to keep your scheduled appointment and to be on time. The student clinic provides an extremely important learning experience for our students. Interns cannot receive credit if they are unable to treat a patient. If you need to cancel an appointment please make sure that you call the clinic at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time. Should you become acutely ill remember that acupuncture can be useful in helping to resolve these health concerns and make every effort to come to your scheduled appointment.

Please be aware that because the student clinic is an educational facility you may be asked to see a student intern other than the one you were originally scheduled with. Your student intern may be working with a partner and it is possible that your session may be observed by a student completing required Clinical Observation hours. There will not be more than two interns and one observer present during a given session. Interns are closely supervised by experienced licensed practitioners.

Treatment Fees:
Adults: $30.00 per treatment
Children: $15.00 per treatment
